Free khata book: who owes you, and since when
Write every sale on credit and every payment once. The khata shows what each customer still owes, how old each bill is, a statement of account you can print or share as a PDF, and a polite WhatsApp reminder ready to send. Free, no login, and it stays in this browser.
How to use the khata
- Add your business once. Your name, address, phone and UPI ID are typed once in My data and used on every statement and reminder.
- Start with what is already due. For a customer who owed you money before today, use "Opening balance" once, for example the amount due on 1 April.
- Write each sale on credit. "Sale on credit" saves the date, customer, amount and what was given. Invoices and cash memos you make on billing.niveshsahayak.in or cash-memo.niveshsahayak.in come in by themselves.
- Record money as it comes. "Money received" asks how they paid (cash, UPI, cheque…) and ticks their oldest unpaid bills first. Change the ticks if they are paying a particular bill; anything left over is kept as an advance.
- See the dues. "Dues" splits what each customer owes into 0–30, 31–60, 61–90 and over 90 days, counted from the bill date.
- Remind, or send a statement. Tap "WhatsApp reminder": the message with the amount, the unpaid bills and your UPI ID opens in WhatsApp, and you press Send. Open a customer to print their statement of account or share it as a PDF.
What it does for you
- Bill-wise dues: every payment is linked to the bills it pays, so you see which bill is still open, not just one total.
- Ageing: old dues stand out, so you can follow up the 90-day ones before they turn into bad debts.
- Statement of account: opening balance, every bill and payment with a running balance, and the closing balance, for any dates.
- WhatsApp reminder: a polite message in a ready form; nothing is sent until you press Send in WhatsApp.
- Advances and part payments: money paid ahead of a bill is kept and used up by the next bill.
- Same data as the app: it is the khata part of the free Nivesh Sahayak App, so the dashboard, cash book and supplier dues are a click away.
One set of books, many doors
Khata is one part of the free Nivesh Sahayak App. Everything you enter here is kept in this browser on this device, in the same data home as the app and every Nivesh Sahayak document maker (my.niveshsahayak.in). Bills made on the billing site show up here by themselves, and entries made here show up in the app. There is no account and nothing is uploaded to us.

Questions people ask
Is this khata book really free?
Yes. There is no login, no fee and no limit on customers or entries. It runs in your browser and your data stays on your device.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern phone browser. You can also add it to the home screen from the browser menu so it opens like an app, even without internet.
Will my customers get any message from you?
No. Nothing is sent by us. A WhatsApp reminder opens in your own WhatsApp with the text ready; it goes only when you press Send.
Can I use it with my GST invoices?
Yes. Invoices and cash memos made on billing.niveshsahayak.in and cash-memo.niveshsahayak.in in the same browser appear in the khata by themselves, with what is still due on each.
What happens if a customer pays part of a bill?
Record what they paid. It settles the bills you tick (oldest first by default); the rest of the bill stays due and keeps its age.
How do I move my khata to another phone?
Open My data, press Save a backup file, send that file to the other phone, and restore it there. One file carries all your customers, bills and payments.
